SLH Hobie Wheel Cart Retrieval Kit
Переглядів 3,3 тис.2 роки тому
The Wheel Cart Retrieval Kit is SLH's take on a clever system to plug a Hobie wheelcart into the scupper holes. It is a popular solution for users with particularly heavy kayaks, such as Pro Angler and Islands. In this video we demonstrate what the kit is, how we go about installing the padeyes onto the cart frame and how we go about using it. We do sell this as a kit (link below) but it would ...

    Thank you for simplifying the options! As a solo kayaker with an almost 80 pound kayak I was able to figure out which will work best for me and my vehicle. Thank you!

    I purchased the recommended 1/8” paracord from Harber Frieght. If you carefully heat the outer jacket so it shrinks and becomes more rigid you can easily thread it through the hole and pulley. Otherwise the outer sheath slides and bunches if you tried to push it. The same thing for the T handle. Don’t over heat because the jacket will melt.

      Oh wait, you mean the one for the bilge pump? The one we use in that clip is the same if not very close to this: slhobie.com.au/shop/kayak-fishing/mounts/install-hardware/drain-plug-flat-base/ If you were to run into any issue installing this one you'd only need to shave the edges down with a dremmel a mm or 2 to get it to fit. You might not need to do that though

    My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!

    The circle of life. Heavier kayaks mean newer and more expensive loading systems. New/expensive loading systems only encourages them to build heavier kayaks. More weight, more money, more solutions, more weight, more money, etc., etc. There's a hole in the bucket Dear Liza, Dear Liza.

    Would this work on a Jeep Rubicon with a 37" spare tire on the back ? How far is the 90 degree up from hitch?

    • @paddlefishsail
      @paddlefishsail Рік тому

      Hi JS. If the Rubicon has a standard 2x2 Tow Hitch socket then it can work. The distance from the centre of the hitch pin hole to the inside of the upright shaft of the loader is 64cm. If this doesn't give you enough space from the spare wheel then just add a tow hitch extension piece. There are plenty on Ebay and Ali Express.

    Great Now try loading your 18' sea kayak into a 20 mph late afternoon onshore breeze and with your bottom is covered in coarse coral sand I think that the best solution is a version of what roll-off containers use The separate rack is mounted to your existing roof rack,it slides down to the ground,load and secure your kayak and then winch the rack back to the roof

    Update from SLH November 2022. Our loaders have been super successful and are beating what was once an impossible kayak loading problem for a lot of people. No other loading device handles a heavy kayak, especially a Pro Angler as easy. We know our workshop has struggled to keep up with demand but we hope to smooth that out soon. Thank you to those of you that now own our SLH Kayak loader for your support. On a side note : Adding a strap around the middle of the kayak when perched on the loader for assurance is a good idea. Especially if parked on broken ground. For me, so far, I haven't felt a need to use a strap as the kayak stays put and its easy to monitor it as you load. Also, as far as accidents go there have been no "Zombie Kills Of The Week" so far. Cheers, Scott

    Very nicely made: Thanks for the video. Do you know where you purchased the fighting style skipper seat?

    • @paddlefishsail
      @paddlefishsail Рік тому

      It came from BLA Australia, but its anyone's guess if they still have the same thing (this was 9 years ago). There's a lot of versions of this Skipper seat getting around, but you really need to look at them and even do a quick test to make sure it fits because they may look the same in photos, but sizes do vary, and in my experience there is very little room for error. I have seen people fit larger versions but was never keen on how high the larger ones would sit, or how some of them were installed.

    Have the receiver hitch model. Loading kayaks over 50 lbs I have been too vigorous and the kayak has gone too far. They are poly and were not damaged. Considering trying an 85 lb Hobie. Have loaded a 140 lb Laser a number of times, but that is hard to do after a long day. I am 5/7" on a good day.and was 70 at the time.

    HI Scott and Richard, one question on this install, I own 2019 PA 12 Ft and I keep reading that the transducer still sits to low using the adaptor kit and that it will not give correct readings. I guess I'm curious to better understand from you guys your point of view since you have this installed. Have you seen any mis-read within the Side imaging or anything wonky.

    • @paddlefishsail
